Grounded in Experience.

For 30 years, we’ve seen a simple truth play out again and again: growing food sparks change. We’ve witnessed it in neighbourhoods, on rooftops, in classrooms, and here on the farm. Put people together in a field or garden and some of the usual barriers begin to fall away. Age, income, background, job title—none of it matters quite as much when there’s something to plant, harvest, fix, or figure out together. The work we do today is grounded in those experiences—in real farms, real projects, real challenges, and what it takes to bring an idea to life.

Meet Gavin & Della.

Together, we’ve built Everdale, farmed, taught, and brought ambitious projects to life. Along the way, we’ve learned when to push an idea forward, when to rethink it, and what it takes to make something last.

Gavin sees possibility. Give him a field, a farm, or back-of-napkin drawing and he starts imagining what it could become. He has a knack for making ideas visible—using maps, sketches, and plans to get people on the same page and move a project forward. He understands how farms work—from soil and livestock to people, infrastructure, and the thousand practical decisions that make an ambitious project possible. He has trained generations of farmers, continues to teach at the University of Guelph and has been recognized with a Watershed Excellence Award.

Della sees connections—between people, places, ideas, and the small details that can make a big difference. From founding Everdale’s Harvest Share to building its Farm School program, she has spent her career figuring out how to turn ideas into practical systems that last. She’s happiest with one foot on the farm and one foot in the systems—and has rarely met a piece of equipment that couldn’t benefit from a set of castors. Her work has been recognized nationally, including being named one of Canada’s Top 10 Most Influential Women in Agriculture.

We’re farmers, builders, and teachers. We create, repair, test, change course, and keep learning. We’re comfortable getting our hands dirty, solving problems as they come, and staying with an idea until it works. That practical, hands-on approach shapes everything we do.

Today, we’re putting those lessons to work through Everdale Regenerative—taking what we’ve learned on the farm and through decades of projects into new places, while continuing to test ideas and learn from every season.

Good places change how people feel. How they connect, and how they care for what surrounds them. What happens in a garden, on a farm, or in a shared outdoor space can shape how we see the world beyond it.

Lessons from the Land.

Stewardship is learned one season at a time.

The land has been our greatest teacher, Healthy places don't happen by accident. They grow with through careful observation, thoughtful design, and a willingness to work with nature rather than against it. Every season makes us ask different questions, brings new challenges, new discoveries, and new opportunities to learn. These lessons continue to guide everything we do.

Diversity builds resilience.

Healthy ecosystems are naturally diverse. Whether growing food, designing an urban garden, or creating habitat for pollinators, diversity strengthens resilience and helps places thrive.

Healthy ecosystems = healthy communities.

Healthy soil, healthy food, healthy environments, and healthy people are deeply connected. Thoughtfully designed landscapes nourish more than plants—they improve well-being and bring people together.

Beautiful places inspire stewardship.

When people enjoy spending time in a place, they begin to care for it. Stewardship starts with connection.

Today, these lessons guide every Impact Garden we design and every experience we create.

What Guides Us.

Regeneration
Leave things better.

Farming matters.  Food and farms strengthen communities.  Plants and biodiversity bring life to a place. Regeneration means leaving something stronger for what comes next.

Collaboration
Open to possibility.

Different perspectives strengthen ideas. The best work leaves room for what others bring-and where it might lead.

Curiosity
Look again.

The answer is often in front of you. Look closely, question what you assume, see what else something could do, and stay open to what people and places can teach you.
